Coletta Renee wears many hats but always makes time to put others first! She is a mother, a former guest radio personality (The Power--XM Radio), contributing writer for AOL Black Voices, a humanitarian and supporter of many organizations geared toward empowering humanity. 'Giving back' has always been one of her most rewarding accomplishments. Her efforts have taken her all over the world; making a difference in the lives of many. Creating Tia's Foundation was her way of honoring her aunt as well as working through the pain of losing her best friend. Her life's mission is to empower young women all over the world to take action against HIV/AIDS by educating thm and teaching them the importance of preventing the spread of the disease. She is also working on her first book tentatively entitled: By God's Grace: How I Survived Losing My Best Friend to AIDS
More Insight:
When her best friend was diagnosed with AIDS in 1993, she realized that HIV/AIDS does not discriminate and was "not a gay white male population" disease as the media portrayed. She decided to take action by educating herself about the virus, volunteering in hospice homes and hospitals, participating in AIDS Walks around the country, donating money to find a cure and acting as an emotional support for her best friend. Prior to Tia's death, Coletta decided to take her efforts a step further and create Tia's Foundation. Over the years, she has donated thousands of dollars to various organizations hoping to help find a cure for AIDS. Helping to bridge the gap between those infected with HIV/AIDS and those affected by this epidemic is not just a volunteer effort for Coletta but her life's mission!
